Janet Jackson was honored with the inaugural Ultimate Icon at the BET Awards on Sunday 8 June, 2015 as the big names in African American music and film came out to celebrate another year of entertainment at the 2015 BET Awards which incidentally is the 15th Anniversary of the ceremony hosted by Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross. It was held at the Microsoft Theater in LA, California. Beyoncé was the big winner of the night with 3 awards, including Video of the Year. Minaj and Brown both won 2 each.Smokey Robinson was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award, Music Dance Visual Award. Radio host Tom Joyner was also honored, receiving the Humanitarian Award. The event also saw Ghanaian dancehall star Stonebwoy beating Nigeria’s Wizkid and Yemi Alade in the Best International Act Africa award category. And Nicki Minaj and Beyonce leading the winners pack.
